Race Reports

Whit Whitfield: Green Bay Marathon
May 18, 2008

Eric Johnson and I did the Cellcom Green Bay.  It was a great day.  The temperasture was about 47 -56, partly cloudy.  The only drawback was a blustery wind that was cool and strong at times.  We ran the first half through mostly tree shaded neighborhoods.  Thgen there was some highways and before turing onto a greenway along the Fox River.  It was four very pretty miles with some great views of the river and some nice homes.  Volunteers were numerous, friendly and helpful.  Goo, fresh strawberries, oranges, cookies and muffins.  Eric ran the best time he has had since the knee operation.  I ran a PR that was over 3 minutes faster than the @nd Raleigh race.  I ran 3 and 1’s and my legs flet great until the last mile.  I also had a delay by a train which held a large group up for 4 minutes.  When Jeff said more walk breaks, it works.  I would recommend this race for a possible good race time.  It had some solling hills, but overall flat.  For football fans, the lap through Lambeau Field was great.
